Course and Program Information

Some Changes in ECSE Course Offerings

  • Most Templates for ECSE Degrees have been updated. Please be sure to check the template for your degree class.
  • There are several important announcements that you should read over before registering this term. It is especially important to consider when to register for ECSE Design, since it is now the design option that will be taken by nearly all EE and CSE students.

ECSE 4540 for next Semester

  • ECSE-4540, Introduction to Voice and Image Processing will be taught next semester as ECSE-4540 Introduction to Image Processing (i.e. dropping the voice component).  The change didn't make it into the official course catalog before registration.

  • The new course description is:

  • An introduction to the field of image processing, covering both analytical and implementation aspects.   Topics include the human visual system, cameras and image formation, image sampling and quantization, spatial-and frequency-domain image enhancement, filter design, image restoration, image coding and compression, morphological image processing, color image processing, image segmentation, and image reconstruction.  Real-world examples and assignments drawn from consumer digital imaging, security and surveillance, and medical image processing.
    Prerequisite: ECSE-4510.
Spring term annually. 3 credit hours
