Heather Scoffone
is a current undergraduate freshman at RPI studying Biomedical Engineering.
From Cumberland,
RI, she graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy
in the top ten percent of her high school class. Heather's other past achievements
include being a member of the National Honor Society, a recipient of the Air
Force Recruiting Service Mathematics and Science Award, and a recipient of
the Society of Women Engineers/Dorothy M. &Earl S. Hoffman Scholarship.
A current member of the Rensselaer Symphony Orchestra, she has been playing
the flute for over 7 years. Heather spent the past year working as a tutor
in math and science for children of all ages (elementary through high school),
and she has volunteered at a local summer camp in Rhode Island for the past
two summers. As a part of the CenSSIS program, she hopes to use that experience,
along with her skills in science and technology, to create an exhibit at the
local children's museum in Troy.
