Hotel Information

There are two hotels in downtown Troy: The Best Western Rensselaer Inn and the Franklin Square Inn & Suites. The Best Western hotel is the closest to RPI and is within walking distance from RPI campus. We have blocked rooms in both hotels at special rates for COMPEL attendees under the code “IEEE COMPEL 2006”. See below for detailed information for making reservations in each hotel.

Important Note: The workshop coincides with new student orientation at RPI. This will be the time when new undergraduate students and their parents (and relatives) visit RPI campus and attend various orientation meetings. Hotel rooms around RPI are usually fully booked during this period of time each year. Because of that, we urge all attendees to make their hotel reservations as soon as possible.

COMPEL 2006 Special Rate: $70/night + tax for single occupancy

                                                            $75/night + tax for double occupancy

Amenities: airport shuttle; complimentary breakfast

Note that to take advantage of the special rates, you have to call the hotel directly. The rates are not available for reservations made online or by calling the Best Western toll free number. Blocked rooms will be released on July 1. After that, reservations will be accepted based on room availability and applicable rates.

Amenities: complimentary breakfast (no airport shuttle)

Blocked rooms will be released by July 3rd. After that, reservations will be accepted based on room availability and applicable rates.

Note that hotels may offer other discount rates (e.g., through direct pay, online booking, etc.) that could be lower than what are offered to the workshop.
