In 1999, I got my bachelor degree from Electrical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University in Beijing, P.R.China. I also got my master degree from Electrical Engineering Department of Tsinghua University in 2002. My advisor in my Alma Mater is Professor Kexiong Tan. After graduation, I worked in Shanghai Baosight Software Co. Ltd for 3.5 years. To pursue my PhD degree, I joined the ECSE Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall of 2005 and did research under the supervision of Professor Qiang Ji. My research interest is focused on probabilistic graphical models (PGMs) such as Conditional Random Fields, Bayesian Network, Factor Graph, Hybrid Probabilistic Graphical Models and their application to computer vision problems, including image and video segmentation, human upper body tracking, active image labeling, etc. I have finished my PhD in May 2009 and moved to Los Angeles.

Thesis Work

PhD Thesis: A Unified Probabilistic Graphical Model and Its Application to Image Segmentation

MS Thesis: Acoustic emission detection of partial discharges in power capacitors and pattern recognition of partial discharges in oil.

BS Thesis: Recognition of 3D partial discharge patterns using fractal features.
