On September 10th, W2SZ Ham Radio Club members and our alumni community gathered at Mt. Greylock, MA, for an exciting day of radio enthusiasts' heaven - participating in the biannual QSO Contest. With 50-ft radio towers and two trucks loaded with equipment, we aimed to make as many contacts over the radio as possible for the contest.

The more experienced alumni and radio professionals taught students how the process works and explained what kind of radio equipment and technology they had set up. Students also got a chance to participate in the contest, listening and trying to make contact with others over the air, which can be challenging for first-time ham radio users. Several members had just gotten their Amateur Radio License, so this was a great opportunity to get hands-on with radios right away. We also added a touch of adventure by safely practicing tower climbing, making it a day to remember filled with shared passion and camaraderie.
